Lyrical Dance

(Tuesdays)

Lyrical comes from the word "lyrics" because dancers use the lyrics of a song or instrumental music to inspire them to do certain movements or show expression.

Lyrical uses gestures, facial expressions, and controlled movements in order to execute movements and emotions fully. Besides emotional connection to music, lyrical dance encourages use of articulation, line, weight, and movement qualities.

Lyrical dance choreography uses ballet, modern, and jazz, but it does not have the exactness of those techniques. Most lyrical dancers will develop extreme strength, control and ease in their movements.

Great energy and stamina are needed to perform lyrical.

Lyrical pieces are based on a story, whether it is the dancer's personal experience, or the choreographer's story. A story is portrayed through the choice of music and expression on the dancer's face and through the movement.

The choreography is determined by the attitudes and perceptions of the dancer and choreographer. Dancers will learn to portray feelings of passion, pain, joy, sadness, fear, or anger when dancing.

Mat Pilates

(Thursdays)

A 60 minute class designed by Joseph Pilates consisting of 18 core strengthening exercises. This class is perfect for all ages and all levels. The balance of each exercise results in long lean muscles and a strong healthy body.

Pilates called his method Contrology (from control and Greek -λογία, -logia), because he his method uses the mind to control the muscles.

The program focuses on the core postural muscles to keep the body balanced and support the spine. This class teaches awareness of breath and alignment of the spine while working to strengthen the deep torso muscles.

Scottish Highland Dance

(Coming Soon)

To learn more about this wonderful and historic dance form, watch this clip created and starring our own Highland Dance teacher, Tierney de la Lama.

Sculpt, Tone, Burn

(Tuesdays)

This is an intense class targeted at getting results!

Your body will become lean and toned if you stick with this class regularly.  Be ready to feel muscles you'd forgotten existed after just the first class!

The class lasts for 60 minutes. 15 minutes stand up workout (working upper and lower body) The 15 minutes stand-up routine helps to warm up the muscles and exercise them as well. There is more body movement in the first 15 minutes workout. The workout will include work on neck, shoulder, oblique, legs etc.

The 45 remaining minutes will be taught on the mat. The mat exercises will differ weekly. Every week there will be a different body part focus. Therefore, it is important to not miss class.

We will of course work all the body parts, but every week there will be a different focus (abs, inner thigh, outer thigh, arms, butt etc).

We end the workout with stretching. Stretching is very important at the end of the exercise. Therefore, instead of leaving the class tired of the workout, you will feel refreshed and happy.

Important: There will be different level exercises in the group. The Instructor will demonstrate in the same time a beginner and an advanced level  of  the exercise. And you can choose what applies to you. Do not rush or assume. Start with the easy exercise if you are not sure. You will get to the advanced level.

Warning: It is important to be aware of your flexibility and athletic level of your body. If you haven't worked out before, your body will be sore. But that should not scare you, to the contrary, it should make you feel great because you are contributing in exercising a muscle that was not used before.

Be prepared - this workout is intense!
